Moving out at the end of a fixed term lease
- A tenant must give the appropriate notice to move out at the end of their fixed term, if you have the appropriate clause in your lease.
- The 14 days notice must show rent only and no admin / late fees.
- Rent review date is the date the letter is delivered, not the date the new rent takes affect.
- Be fast with informing tenants of re-letting fees and other fees if they change their minds about taking an apartment.
- Adjudicators can use this as an excuse to award tenants.
- According to the CER and IPOA, tenants are 100% responsible for damages from installing a pre-pay meter.
- Introducing surprise information and accusations at adjudications often works; adjudicators don’t like refusing new evidence.
